Concepción is a part of the Aguilar family from Ocotlán de Morelos, Oaxaca, Mexico. The Aguilar family is famous for its colorful ceramic figures. Concepción works together with her husband Jorge Sánchez Ruiz in her ceramic work. Her work contains great detail, mostly related to nature. While she uses pictures for inspiration, she does not copy what they contain. She is noted for her scenes depicting Jesus and his Disciples and Noah's ark and figures depicting Frida Kahlo.
